The week-long cruises will visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Oman, with calls in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, and a multi-day stop in Dubai. Specific packages for the visit of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai will be made available to guests.

“We are celebrating an important milestone in the recovery of cruise tourism, shipbuilding and port activities, essential components of the national economy,” said Glisenti.

“The Dubai Expo, starting October 1, 2021, will be an important opportunity to confirm and strengthen Italy’s leadership in the enlarged Mediterranean area that goes from the Italian coasts to the Arabian Gulf landings: a historical and contemporary crossroads of relations and exchanges between East and West, which at Expo Dubai will have an unrepeatable moment of meeting.

“In the Italian Pavilion, dedicated to Italy which over the centuries and still today navigates towards new lands of knowledge and culture, we will welcome the many cruise passengers who wish to reach us, sharing their experience and their happiness for having once again crossed the magnificent routes of our Ocean.”

The beauty of Italy, made up of landscapes, flavors, atmospheres, creativity, sustainability, and multisectoral skills, is at the heart of the participation project in the next Universal Expo.

In the case of Costa Cruises, it is about “Beauty that Travels by Sea.” For over 70 years, the ships have been ambassadors in the world of Italy, starting with Costa Smeralda, a flagship that is characterized by “made in Italy” furnishings, for being the only ship to have a museum dedicated to Italian design, and for an experience of Italian hospitality and gastronomy.

Costa is also committed to sustainability, a key value of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai. In line with the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda, Costa Cruises paved the way for sustainable innovation for the entire cruise sector, by first introducing new technologies to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet. An example is the use, right on board the Costa Smeralda, of liquefied natural gas, the most advanced technology in the world in the maritime sector to reduce emissions.

It is also starting the experimentation of batteries and fuel cells to reach the goal of “zero emission” cruises. The environmental aspect is integrated into a broader plan of sustainability, which aims to promote forms of tourism that are more inclusive and attentive to the needs of the territories and local communities, leading guests to discover destinations of great cultural value, but still little known, such as the Villages of Italy, with plans to preserve their beauty and local traditions, also through the activities of the Costa Crociere Foundation.
